faq

Check out some of the most frequently asked questions.

How does my personal collection work? Do I sort it by fish type?
No! Your personal collection consists of a single line with all the fish and special cards you've collected during the game. Whenever you collect a new card, you choose to place it to the right or left of this line.

So, could I end up blocking a school of fish?
Absolutely! It's part of your strategy to choose which schools to keep and which to abandon during the game.
E.g., In Gabriel's collection, there's a green fish on the left and a purple one on the right, and he catches a red fish. He'll have to choose to place it adjacent to one of these fish, probably blocking a potential future school.

Does the Pelican also go into my personal collection?
No. The Pelican is the only card from the sea row (or boat) that doesn't go into your collection. It's automatically discarded, and then you discard another card from your collection.

So can I discard any card from my collection with the Pelican?
Yes! It can be a way for you to discard that fish that was blocking a school and end up helping you in the game.

Do I have to choose one of the two objectives to complete in the game?
Not at all. If you managed to, you can complete both and earn the extra 5 points.

And these quality fish? Does each one give me an extra point?
No. Having one, two, or even five quality fish in a school doesn't make a difference. If you have at least one, the school becomes a quality school, worth 3 points.

EVENT CARDS

Eagle

The Eagle limits players' options. At the end of this round, the Seagull cards used by players stay on the table. At the end of the next round, players retrieve these cards as usual (along with the cards used in the current round).

Fish Bait
Before revealing the Seagull cards for the round, all players draw a face-down card from the top of the sea deck and add it to their personal collection (clockwise, starting from the current player). Then, the game continues as normal.

Clear Skies
Nothing happens, just keep fishing as usual.

Whirlpool
The whirlpool mixes all the players' fishing. The cards from the sea row are shuffled and randomly rearranged. The fishing boat, however, remains as it is.

Ducks
The current player draws a card from the top of the sea deck and chooses to place it in one of the positions of the sea row. The card that was previously in that position is discarded.

Indecision
Players keep the chosen Seagull cards on the table, but they won't be used this round. Then, they choose a new card to use. At the end of the round, retrieve both cards back to the hand.

Night
All cards from the sea row and fishing boat are turned face down. Now it all comes to the players' memory. These cards remain face down until the end of the game (or until they are caught by players). New cards, however, enter face up, as usual.

Whale
In this round, whoever bumps into another Seagull gets nothing. Extra caution is needed.

Flying Fish
The Seagull cards chosen for this round serve no purpose. Players, clockwise (starting from the current player), choose a card from the sea row and add it to their collection. Then, they retrieve the chosen Seagull cards.

Shark
The Shark is like a Pelican for everyone. Each player chooses a card from their collection (from any position) and discards it.

Plane
The cards change hands, and you'll fish your opponent's fish. Each player passes their card to the player on their left. In the end, the original owners of the Seagull cards retrieve their cards.

Opportunist
Time to organize your collection. Players, clockwise (starting from the current player), can exchange any card from their collection for a card from the fishing boat.
